East bound and down, loaded up and truckin'.....

President Joe Biden repeated a lie he's told in the past about having driven an 18-wheeler truck at a speech in Florida Tuesday.

At 81, the oldest president in American history, Biden has remained a gaffe machine throughout his presidency, often re-telling lies about his biography that have been repeatedly debunked, even by mainstream outlets.

At Hillsborough Community College in Tampa Bay on Tuesday, Biden claimed to have driven a big rig.

Commentary: The Endurance of an Ideological Paradox

I have written about the death and rebirth of socialism periodically over the years. But as André Gide said in another context, “Toutes choses sont dites déjà, mais comme personne n’écoute, il faut toujours recommencer” – “everything has already been said, but since no one was listening, it is necessary to say it again.”

Really, the socialist impulse is a hardy perennial. How could something so frequently and thoroughly discredited persist in the hearts of men? Some think it has something to do with the gullibility of the human animal, some (but I repeat myself) with the persistence of the utopian dream. I suspect there are many explanations, of which the raw desire for power plays an unedifying but also underrated role. I also favor the explanatory power of original sin, which has profound psychological as well as theological application to many of the more farcical aspects of human experience and what is more farcical than socialism?

Damned if you do, damned if you don't

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – An Oakland County gun charge has become a Second Amendment battle with the prosecutor’s office.

Isaiah Ware pulled a gun from its holster inside a Kroger store to fend off a physical altercation inside at Long Lake and Telegraph roads in Bloomfield Hills on Thursday (Oct. 5) at 5:30 p.m.

The Oakland County prosecutor’s office charged him with felony assault with a deadly weapon after the incident.

Gotta make a buck

Federal officials say a British man was caught with more than 44 pounds of ketamine in his luggage during a customs inspection at O’Hare International Airport over the weekend.

Christopher Andrew Harvey entered customs with a small roller bag and a backpack after arriving on a flight from Brussels on Saturday, according to a complaint filed by a Homeland Security Investigations agent. Screeners flagged Harvey for additional screening because he had “trouble answering simple questions regarding his trip,” the complaint said.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people try to transport drugs through airports. I haven't flown in many years but I have been in Nashville airport picking up and dropping off friends and family, and the place was crawling with dope dogs every time I've been there. I wouldn't go into an airport with so much as a joint in my pocket nowadays.

The Crime of the Century

A retired Pennsylvania teacher is suing his local government after he was convicted of a criminal charge for putting a “For Sale” sign in his truck window.

Will Cramer teamed up with the Institute for Justice last week to take legal action against the borough of Nazareth over its ordinance, claiming that it’s a violation of his First Amendment rights, according to the nonprofit law firm.

Your Thursday Morning Florida Report

In a bizarre twist of events in Florida this week, St. Petersburg resident Devin Hansen is charged with murder in the first degree after police say he shot his wife at his parent’s house, battered his mother, and then, as his spouse was being rushed to the hospital in an ambulance, chased the emergency vehicle down in his Cadillac before later crashing his car.

Good Morning

Gotta start fattening them up early for Christmas Dinner

The wild goose (or in this case geese) chase has ended. North Texas officials have found the two geese reportedly stolen from a park in Allen last weekend. The City of Allen Parks and Recreation Department posted on Facebook on Monday, April 15 that the birds were located and will be returned.

Meanwhile, in Tennessee.....

Fucking drama queen

A North Carolina defense attorney found herself on the wrong side of the law when she allegedly assaulted a woman and then faked a seizure.

Cops from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to an assault call shortly before noon Monday to the law office of 53-year-old Mary Leazer Rogers. When they arrived, police found a woman with a bloodied and scratched-up face.

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee signs bill to consider public safety as first consideration for bail

The process of setting bail is changing as two bills hit Governor Lee’s desk. One bill makes public safety the priority when setting bail.

The other eliminates affordability from the question when setting the bail amount.

On Friday, Governor Bill Lee signed House Bill 1642 into law. The law goes into effect on July 1.

Mandated gun insurance bill passes in Colorado

Insurance is one of the most profitable industries worldwide pulling in trillions of dollars annually in the U.S., yet Democrats have found a way to make it more profitable in Colorado.

Under a bill passed Saturday night when the Constitution was apparently sleeping, the state House decided gun owners must also buy insurance policies in case their weapon discharges accidently.

Report: Biden has Taken over 200 Actions Against U.S. Oil

President Joe Biden and his administration have taken over 200 actions against the U.S. oil and natural gas industry as energy prices have gone up, according to a new report.

“President Biden and Democrats have a plan for American energy: make it harder to produce and more expensive to purchase,” the Institute for Energy Research states in a new report. “Since Mr. Biden took office, his administration and its allies have taken over 200 actions deliberately designed to make it harder to produce energy here in America.”

The analysis highlights actions Biden took on his first day in office, listing them chronologically through March of this year. The first act was canceling the Keystone XL pipeline, issuing a moratorium on all oil and natural gas leasing activities in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and revoking Trump administration executive orders that decreased regulations in order to expand domestic production.

Chicago is the DNC’s Kind of Town?

I’m old enough to remember the 1968 DNC convention in Chicago, and smart enough to see that Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is no Richard J. Daley. So, as food prices rise with no end in sight, I advise you to stock up on popcorn before the August 19 convention in Chicago this year. As for the Democrats, I cannot imagine a scenario where there is anything but downsides for picking this site, this year.

In case you forgot, the 1968 convention began with ominous foreboding. True, the mayor had done everything he could to prettify the city, including screening the stockyards with redwood fences, but he knew the anti-Vietnam protestors would target the convention and mobilized the National Guard with orders to shoot if necessary.

What followed was worse than even the direst pessimist could have envisioned. Written in 2008, this author described the scene and aftermath:

Howie Carr: MassDOT Secretary Monica Tibbits-Nutt is quite nutty

Monica Tibbits-Nutt, Gov. Maura Healey’s crewcut Secretary of Transportation, is a real nutjob.

In case you’re not familiar with this latest $196,551-a-year local poster gal for leftist lunacy, this Nutt is nuttier than a fruitcake.

“We are going after all the people,” she said recently at a public gathering of her fellow tree huggers and climate cultists, “who should be giving us money to make our transportation better.”

To elaborate, she said she is “basically going after everyone who has money.”
